PROJECT LEAD THE WAY [PLTW]
Welcome to Project Lead the Way!
Project Lead the Way is a project-based curriculum that exposes and prepares students for college and career success in engineering, technology and related fields. The engineering/technology program at Bellmont offers 4 different courses. Two of the courses offer dual credit opportunities through Ivy Tech (although high grades will be allowed to transfer to other colleges such as Purdue and Trine University). Eligible dual credit courses include: Intro to Engineering Design (IED), generally taken by students in their freshman year and Principals of Engineering (POE). Intro to Engineering is a prerequisite course to Principals of Engineering.
Engineering
- Introductory Course
- PLTW: Intro to Engineering Design (Ivy Tech DESN 101)
- Advanced Courses
- PLTW: Principles of Engineering (Ivy Tech DESN 104)
- PLTW: Computer Integrated Manufacturing
- Engineering Design & Development
All four courses offered at Bellmont are project-based, and students are actively involved in group work and activities. Students in these classes will learn the engineering design process, hand and computer drafting, 3D modeling, 3D printing, laser scanning, laser cutting/engraving, CNC machining, robotics, coding, electrical circuits, bridge design and project management, among many other skills.
